Redefining Security in 2023 and Beyond!

Wow, what a year! As I reflect on 2023, I’m so proud of what the team at Pangea has accomplished. Looking back at all of the product launches, awards, and events that filled our year, I can't help but feel gratitude for our incredible team, and for the unwavering support of our community. Together, we've achieved some truly remarkable things.

• We kicked off the year with a bang, having closed our $26M Series B funding at the end of 2022 led by GV, with participation from Decibel and Okta Ventures. They joined existing investors Ballistic Ventures and SYN Ventures bringing our total amount raised to over $52M. This vote of confidence from industry leaders fueled our mission to democratize security and empower developers with cutting-edge security features!

• We celebrated our 2-year anniversary this October! This journey all started with our core team members in October 2021 with Sourabh Satish, Colin Fagan, Tim Newsham, Prashant Pathak, Ian Forrest, Akshay Dongaonkar, and Rob Truesdell.

• 

• We launched the world’s first Security Platform as a Service at the end of 2022 and saw application builders flock to our platform, eager to integrate seamless security into their creations. Companies ranging from security startups like Reach Security to healthtech companies like Codex Health chose Pangea to ship a secure and compliant app faster.

• Our initial vision of Pangea expanded from 3 to an amazing 16 services, providing essential security features developers need to deliver Secure by Design apps:

  • AuthN - Robust Authentication in just a few lines of code

  • Vault - A Secret and cryptographic key store

  • Secure Audit Log - A tamperproof immutable secure audit trail

  • Embargo - Restrict access by country and honor export restrictions

  • Redact - Identify and mask over 50 types of PII

  • File Scan - Scan file objects for malware with Crowdstrike and ReversingLabs

  • File Intel - Lookup hashes of known malware with Crowdstrike and ReversingLabs

  • Domain Intel - Detect known malicious domains with DomainTools and Crowdstrike

  • User Intel - Identify breached users with partner Spycloud

• We launched the Secure by Design Education Hub, a public resource to educate developers on the essential security features that every application needs.

• And it wasn't just about products. We poured our hearts into fostering a vibrant Pangea community. Our Securathon events brought together developers from across the globe, sparking collaboration and igniting new ideas to tap into Pangea in creating safer apps. Our community kept the conversation flowing online, proving that security can be both informative and fun.

• We were humbled to receive multiple industry awards recognizing us for our dedication and innovation:

  • RSA 2nd Place Innovation Sandbox: We were declared one of the top 2 most innovative companies at the RSA Innovation Sandbox competition.

  • CSO50 Innovation: We were recognized by CSO magazine as one of the top 50 organizations for security leadership and innovation.

  • SINET 16: We were recognized by SINET as one of the top 16 most innovative companies.

These accomplishments were a testament to the tireless efforts of every Pangean and the impact we’re making. Seeing how our solutions empower developers to create more secure and compliant apps - delivering on the promise of Secure by Design and “Shift Left” Security fills us with purpose to push even further.

As we approach 2024 our roadmap is full of more ambitious plans, with an emphasis on going deeper on the broad set of services that we offer today.
